Information for the user – Micropigmentation

Micropigmentation and microblading are cosmetic procedures used to enhance areas of the body or to camouflage scars/skin alterations through punctures or microcuts. Removal may entail risks and is not always complete.

Contraindications

• Do not perform: allergy to pigments; undiagnosed skin lesions (moles, spots, warts) in the area; skin diseases (psoriasis, urticaria).
• Medical report required: diabetes, cardiac or renal conditions, hepatitis, HIV or other infections; blood disorders or anticoagulation (e.g., acenocoumarol); recent isotretinoin treatment; epilepsy; psychological or personality disorders.
• Temporarily: active local infections (viral warts, herpes simplex, bacterial infections), unstable scars, recent burns, ulcers or hematomas; recent infiltrations/surgeries/chemo-/radiotherapy; pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Health risks

• Transmission of diseases (hepatitis, tetanus, HIV) if hygienic practices and current regulations are not followed.
• Local infections (bacterial, viral, fungal).
• Allergies to pigments (chromium, nickel, cadmium, oxides, etc.); photodermatitis with yellow pigment and sun exposure.
• Allergy to latex or anesthetics; herpes reactivation.
• Poor healing, hypertrophic or keloid scarring; granulomatous reactions (more likely with greens, blues, reds).
• Possible mild effects: swelling, pain, microhematomas; pigment migration; aesthetic issues due to inadequate depth or pigment quality.

Pre-procedure information

• Indicate if you will undergo magnetic resonance imaging or if you are a blood donor (temporary limitation).
• In the days before: avoid drugs, alcohol and antiplatelets (e.g., acetylsalicylic acid).
• Avoid exposure to sun/UVA and prior facial treatments.
• Preferably do not come fasting. Avoid contact lenses for at least 8 days if applicable (eye area).

Aftercare

• Wash hands beforehand. Daily cleaning with saline solution and sterile gauze.
• Cold compress for the first two days (max. 5 minutes at a time). Keep the area dry.
• Do not scratch or rub; do not remove scabs.
• Avoid non-specific cosmetics.
• Avoid sun/UVA; use total protection if essential.
• Until healing, no swimming pool/beach or sauna.
• If any reaction occurs, consult a doctor.

Without informed consent and, where applicable, a medical certificate, micropigmentation cannot be performed.
